KEA`AU VILLAGE LIGHTED PARADE
When: Saturday, Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m.
Mark your calendars for Kea`au Village’s 9th annual event – our Lighted Christmas Parade to be held on Saturday, December 8th rain or not. This year’s theme is “A Disney Hawaiian Christmas”. Parade starts at Kea`au High School at 5:30pm, and continues on Kea`au Pahoa Road through the village, where judges will be watching to rate the creative efforts of as many as 50 floats, marching bands, and more! There will be crafts, food booths, and other entertainment at Kea`au Village Market throughout the day. For more information, call 896-1236.
HILO CHRISTMAS PARADE
When: Saturday, Nov. 24
The Hilo Christmas Parade kicks off the season on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, this year November 24. The parade goes right through downtown Hilo. The Lehua Jaycees manage the parade and may be reached at email@example.com or via phone at 935-0555.
WAIMEA TWILIGHT CHRISTMAS PARADE
When: Saturday, Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m.
“Make It A Dozen!” to encourage donations of a dozen items to our “Big Island Giving Tree”! there will be six or more narrator stations between historic Church Row Park and Waimea Park for the Waimea’s famous Christmas parade (the second oldest in Hawai’i), which includes a Santa float, walking units and a brigade of dozens of festively lighted trucks! Participants are urged to kokua by not parking on landscaped areas and picking up all trash before leaving and most important, keeping their eyes on the keiki for the safety of all! Parade Grand Marshalls will be a special unit honoring Vietnam veterans!
WAIKOLOA VILLAGE CHRISTMAS PARADE & KEIKI CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL
When: Saturday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m.
Parade begins at 10 a.m. from the corner of Waikoloa Road and Paniolo Avenue to Waikoloa Elementary School where the Keiki Christmas Festival will begin around 11 a.m. Santa will be available for pictures with the keiki. The Chamber Orchestra of Kona will follow the Festival with a free holiday concert.
KAILUA-KONA COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS PARADE
When: 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15
Kailua-Kona’s Christmas Parade will be starting at 5 p.m. (and go till 7 p.m.). Theme: “Let’s Be Jolly!” The parade will start at Kona’s Kekuaokalani Gym, and will proceed along Kuakini down Palani, along Ali’i to Walua Road just past Coconut Grove Marketplace. Barbara Nobriga will be the Kailua-Kona Christmas Parade 2012 Grand Marshal. She has long served the community, with the Kona 4-H Horse Club, Kona Historical Society, Kamehameha Day Parade, and restoration projects such as Hulihe’e Palace. Approximately 75 community and corporate entries will include floats, lights, music and candy! Please, if you can, support the Menehune Holiday Food Drive by bringing a can of food down to the parade; there will be collection points all along the parade route.
