Shakas

To the Kona Marathon team for choosing to take up the fight against cancer. Giving of your time, money and strength to participate in the three-day Susan G. Komen Walk in the mainland is a wonderful way to honor breast cancer survivors and raise funds to fight this awful disease.

To those who came out to support Kona’s gay pride 2011 event PROUD at the Remixx Lounge. It was a fun and wildly entertaining evening for all.

Stink Eyes

To the county more than doubling the cost of vehicle registration. The average car (under 4,000 pounds) already costs about $120 per year. Doubling that amount will cause a serious financial hardship for island residents. We can only hope that this does not discourage drivers from keeping their cars legal.

To people who still text while driving. There is no message so important that it can’t wait until you get off the road.
